shadcn on AI-assisted components
shadcn says building component abstractions still needs heavy UX research; AI currently helps him fail faster rather than accelerate design.
Key points
- shadcn says he recently built two components for shadcn/react.
- He says each component took weeks of UX research, experimentation, and iteration.
- He says AI helps him fail faster, letting him go through many more failures before a component or code is ready.
- He says AI has not yet accelerated the abstraction and interface work for him.

I still spend a LOT of time figuring out the right abstractions and interfaces (user and programming).
I recently built two components for shadcn/react. Each took weeks of UX research, experimentation, and iteration to get right.
AI hasn't accelerated this part yet, at least for me.
What it has done though, is help me fail faster. I can now go through many more failures before a component or code is ready.Quoting @shadcn: Abstractions
