Steam is literally just a massive cash grab at this point.
Every time you want to play something new you're expected to spend another $60-80 and somehow everyone just accepts it.
So I spent the last few days working on something called MEATS.
It's basically my attempt at making a completely free, open-source Steam alternative.
You can put all your games in one place, launch the Steam games you own, and eventually I want to make it possible to play with all your friends without dealing with a bunch of different launchers.
No subscriptions, no launcher fees, and the entire codebase is public so anyone can contribute.
It's still early and there's a ton of stuff I want to add, but I figured why not release it now and let people build on it with me.
I genuinely think gaming needs more projects that actually care about the players instead of just finding new ways to make money off them.
MEATS is out now.
Let's see how far we can take this.
